WHY OCE?

Africa is home to a wealth of cultural heritage, infrastructure, and indigenous knowledge systems that have the potential to counter the effects of the corporate cultural economy while also driving innovation and creativity on the continent. Unfortunately, these resources have not been fully utilised.

Our Mission

We are on a mission to unleash the immense potential of African culture and folklore to ignite a contemporary renaissance.

Our Vision

Imagine a think-tank that unites this diverse cultural heritage to provide ideal solutions to the complex and dynamic challenges.

Overall Goal

We have a highly strategic initiative that seeks to effectively leverage cultural infrastructure to promote Africa’s development.

Our Strategies

“Originality is not about being different for difference's sake, but about bringing your authentic self to the table and sharing your unique voice. True creativity is not about following rules but breaking them and forging your creative path. Ms. Joanne Gillespie

Scripting
Scripting

The colonial project destroyed indigenous sources of knowledge and epistemic claims. Scripting is the idea that what is absent from a cultural script is critical.

Archaeology
Archaeology

This helps to cultivate ways of thinking and practices that are external to, in opposition to, and unconventional to the colonially sanctioned knowledge.
