The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda recognises culture as essential for sustainable development. However, the cultural dimension is not getting enough attention compared to other dimensions. We need to elevate the cultural aspect to achieve a truly sustainable future.
The cultural and creative sectors are essential to tackle the challenges of the 21st century. That’s why we established the Operation Cultural Engineering Foundation to preserve African heritage, generate ideas, conduct research, and facilitate cultural exchange. The cultural and creative sectors hold the key to unlocking the potential of our society and creating a brighter future for all.
In the 21st century, cultural challenges such as questioning human values and rights, endangering democracy (even in the digital world), and the need for new paths have emerged. The cultural and creative sectors can offer innovative ideas to address these issues and create an environment for social conversations. However, these sectors remain untapped in many African countries, including Zambia, where cultural spaces are often co-opted to serve particular interests.
This is the result of centuries of disrespect, destruction, and relegation of African culture, folklore, and cultural expressions to superstition during the colonial era Cultural Engineering is a new technology that combines cultural and engineering paradigms to manage all human cultural challenges. It enables us to effectively manage inner and outer human cultural space. At Operation Cultural Engineering, we hope to excavate, isolate and circulate specifically adapted mental software to solve our problems. African/Zambian personhood needs to tap into adequate functionalities in its mind to solve continent-specific problems.
Once the mind becomes aware of its engineering capability, it becomes flexible and responds by choosing new positions. With the advent of the digital age, we now have the means to accomplish this task, and we are confident that, with your support, we can make a meaningful contribution to re-wiring the African mind to rise above the problems we face. By supporting our cause, you will be fueling the cultural revolution that many predict will lead to the African Renaissance.
